Psychological Services
The clinic provides psychological assessment and treatment for adults, adolescents, families, and couples.
Before any treatment is provided, a comprehensive assessment is conducted in order to determine the presenting problems, the need and nature of treatment, and to compile a treatment plan.
Treatment is based on a "best practices" approach, with due consideration to the uniqueness of every person’s particular needs. We have over the years developed structured psychotherapy programs with treatment goals that allow for customization to specific patient treatment needs. This means that we work with the individual to choose the modality of therapy that has the best research-documented efficacy, with cognitive behaviour therapy and interpersonal therapy being the two modalities most supported by broad clinical consensus for both symptomatic improvement and bringing about enduring long term benefits in all areas of psychological function.
Treatment provided is based on a program approach for conditions such as:
- Anxiety Disorders, including postraumatic stress disorder
- Mood Disorders, including depression.
- Stress Management
- Chronic Pain Management
- Relationship / Couple Therapy
- Return to work psychological rehabilitation
- Adjusting to injury or illness caused disability, including mild brain injury.
We accept referrals from other health professionals as well as self referrals.
Third party referrals, such as Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), Auto Insurance, Veterans Affairs, Police Services, etc. are welcomed.
We are available to work collaboratively with all other health care providers as necessary to ensure maximum benefit from the psychological intervention when offered as part of a multi-disciplinary approach.
